Simon Kretz

Founder and partner, graduate architect (ETH Zurich) and Doctor of Science (ETH Zurich). Self-employed architect and urban planner since 2010. Design and execution in the areas of monument preservation, new construction, conversion and urban development. International project experience with Office for Metropolitan Architecture, Rotterdam and KCAP Architects and Urban Planners, Zurich. Currently active in research and teaching as a lecturer at ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. National research projects and publications, dissertation on thought and cognitive processes of design, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation SNF. 2016/17 Protégé of Sir David Chipperfield as part of the Rolex Mentor and Protége Arts Initiative. Winner of the Golden Brick award, which recognizes the highest quality assessment of the design course and the commitment of the teacher at the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich. Author of “The Cosmos of Design. Exploring the Designer’s Mind” and co-author of “Relational Theories of Urban Form. An Anthology”, “On Planning – A Thought Experiment” and “Urbane Qualitäten. Ein Handbuch am Beispiel der Metropolitanregion Zürich”.
