Simon Kretz

Founder and partner, graduate architect (ETH Zurich) and doctor of science (ETH Zurich). Self-employed architect and urban planner since 2010. Experience in design and execution/implementation in the fields of monument preservation, conversion, new construction, urban planning and spatial planning.
Various seats on specialist committees, award juries and commissions.
Active in research and teaching as a lecturer at ETH Zurich (2009-2023), the University of Zurich (since 2013) and ZHAW Winterthur (since 2021).
International research projects and publications, dissertation on thought and cognitive processes of design (funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF). Winner of the Golden Brick award, which recognizes the highest quality assessment of the design course and the commitment of the teacher at the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich. 2016-2017 Protégé of Sir David Chipperfield as part of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.
Author of “The Cosmos of Design. Investigations into Design Thinking” and co-author and editor of “Urban Qualities. Ein Handbuch am Beispiel der Metropolitanregion Zürich”, “Relational Theories of Urban Form. An Anthology” and “On Planning – A Thought Experiment”.
