Future development will be determined by the ability to build bridges across the divisive valley floor occupied by infrastructure and to develop the St. Fiden railway station into an efficient public transport hub. With new bridges for city buses and non-motorized traffic, the traffic network will be reoriented. This will enable the station area to be used for city-wide and regional purposes (long-distance bus station, congress hotel). Attractive paths connect the two quarter axes Rorschacherstrasse and Langgasse. With a partial enclosure of the A1, a noise-reduced area in an excellent location is created as a new, centrally located, low-threshold Allmend. The new Migros building with a new station square allows for a district-compatible densification with housing and shopping uses. The Gerhaldenbach stream will be cleared and an innovation cluster will be created between OLMA and the Cantonal Hospital.
