1. take advantage of location: settlement development in a well-developed location allows for sustainable forms of mobility. The already existing good connection to public transport will be strengthened by the new bus line, and the good pedestrian connection to the community will be improved with attractive crossings of the railroad.
2. appropriate density: the concentration of the superstructure preserves the limited resource of land and allows for an appropriate social density that permits neighborhood formation.
3. building on: the existing settlement structure is built on, existing infrastructures are used or expanded.
4. healthy living: the courtyards are the ideal building type for the heavy noise pollution and ideally protect not only the apartments but also the open space.
5. enable communities: the development size and spatial concentration enables the formation of a neighborhood, a neighborhood that creates identity (from about 500 people). The common access to the courtyard promotes encounters and the emergence of house communities. This enables a socially well-tolerated construction in stages.
6. forming a place of arrival: the historically late Neuenhof station is upgraded in terms of urban development. The skyscraper serves as an orientation. The upgrading of the platform spaces create an attractive arrival point.
7. preserve and enhance open space: preserve as much as possible of the valuable open space in the community. Growing communities need growing, usable open space! The Härdli becomes an active park that allows many activities and at the same time offers high biodiversity. Access to the water remains generous and public.
8. enable the public: The Härdli is there for everyone. The main connection under the tracks leads directly to public open space and the lake. Open spaces that create identity are an essential contribution to social cohesion in a community.
9. thinking long-term: the development of Härdli is embedded in a long-term vision for transforming it into a dense, mixed-use urban neighborhood on the lake. The Limmattalbahn is always considered as an option.
10. climate-adaptive construction: the large courtyards are well ventilated. The cold air can flow from the lake into the community. The Härdli cools the settlement area. Sealing is reduced to a minimum. The next step is to build a smart water management system.
