A new face for Münsingen
With the Bahnhof West development, Industriestrasse will be transformed from a back street into a new, important address for Münsingen. The prominent location by the railroad is clearly visible from the train and the platforms. The project develops a rhythmic urban silhouette from Sägegasse to Belpbergstrasse. The lengths of the buildings are moderate and allow views into the park-like open space to the rear. Two moderate highlights mark the connections between Belpbergstrasse and Dorfmattweg in the depths of the neighborhood.
Relaxed strolling, working and shopping under trees
With trees on both sides and large front zones, Industriestrasse will be transformed into an attractive promenade that can link the route to the station, work and shopping. Here, the atmosphere of small-town craftsmanship embedded in greenery that is so characteristic today is captured. Unsealing and the many trees avoid the overheating typically found on railroad tracks and contribute to a good urban climate. The building follows the street layout and integrates the existing Filzi through subtle turns. This is a great resource for connecting the past and future of Münsingen as a contemporary witness and atmospheric building.
Careful transitions to the neighborhood
The open building arrangement is continued towards the neighborhood in the northern area by two rows of buildings that are staggered in height and mediate to the adjacent scale. The Martignoni building, which is worthy of preservation and stands within the current boundary distance, maintains the transition and contributes to the overall composition of old and new. Precisely defined front zones and elevations create threshold spaces around the houses, making attractive living possible right down to the first floor. In the southern area, the large plinth building for the specialist store with corresponding earth covers will become an integral part of the garden space. The jump in the terrain is designed partly architecturally and partly as an embankment.
The Promenade Verte connects the gardens
In addition to the many cross-connections, a new green Promenade Verte is being created that crosses the park-like garden area from north to south. The path leads past small pavilions in the north to the spacious pergola, which catches the evening sun at its narrowest point and offers a canopied seating area. Carefully designed stairs lead to the plinth area in the south, where the Promenade Verte ends at an architecturally designed staircase to Belpbergstrasse.
