Transformation scenario for the former site of the Swiss National Exhibition Expo 02 on Lake Biel. The project proposes a large riverside park for the urban region and an opening and integration of the bathing establishment. With the expansion and relocation of the marina, an urban centre on the waterfront will be possible, and former industrial halls will become the new location of the municipal theatre. Central underground garages outside the valuable archaeological zones and residential development without basement levels allow for a greatly reduced foundation footprint in the pile-dwelling area. The concentration of the residential development in six clusters facilitates the staging and opens up new spatial references to the lake, while the height development is oriented towards Nidau Castle.
