The site development charter formulates a clear vision: Ausserholligen will become a new, contemporary central location for Bern.
In the middle of the Ausserholligen ESP, the ewb site is a beacon. Visible from afar and well connected by non-motorized traffic and the increasingly relevant public transport system, the project bears a great responsibility – for the Ausserholligen ESP, for Bern and for the region. It opens up the opportunity to invent a place that not only creates diverse atmospheres and mixes different uses, but also unites different people and milieus and brings together radically different economic concepts. The project proposes a tripartite (spatial, social and economic) strategy with the aim of creating a new place with charisma. At the heart of the ESP, a contemporary centrality is to be created, linking Ausserholligen, Berne and the region, which is perfectly connected by four rail corridors. This is the great promise of the ewb site charter. The following theses are conceptual building blocks for the realisation of this vision.
