Development Unterbendern (Gamprin, FL)

Public participation & mission statement process in the dialog procedure

The Unterbendern development was developed in a local dialog. Based on student work, various spatial constellations were discussed, evaluated and supplemented with the population of Gamprin. This resulted in a vision for the future, which was refined in two dialog workshops with representatives of the municipality, the state and external experts and further developed into a mission statement.

The trigger for the Unterbendern development is the new construction of the Rhine bridge, which will arrive at a different location in the future. This will inevitably lead to a reorganization of Unterbendern, which is currently dominated by road infrastructure, into a place to live, work and linger. The development of Unterbendern builds on the existing conditions and structures, such as the historic church hill, the Eschner Strasse at the foot of the slope and the fields, paths and watercourses of the Rhine plain. The linking of functions (bus hub, regional footpaths and cycle paths) and the concentration of diverse uses (residential, commercial, public-oriented and public uses) creates a central location in the Liechtenstein lowlands.

The entire Unterbendern development is supported by a clear open space concept that develops from the surrounding and flowing landscape areas, enhances them and links them beyond the area. The new square under the church hill forms the center, a place to arrive, stay and meet, from where the various street and landscape spaces are directly accessible and can be experienced.
