The sound of Birsfelden was created by many, just as a city is created daily through the exchange of people. In autumn 2020, sound recordings were made at various locations in Birsfelden and then played to people who are closely connected with the place. In conversation, they talk about what has changed, what they remember, where the recordings might have been made, what places are still missing…. The installation
the entrance of the old municipal administration, which has already moved. As here, Birsfelden will change in many places and its sound will change with it. The sound of Birsfelden remains a recording of time, pausing and listening: this is how Birsfelden will sound in 2021. The sensors react to movement and control the loudspeakers – so the sound of Birsfelden can be called up.
