The inner development strategy of the city of St.Gallen places the focus of future development on the valley floor. A central development area is Lerchenfeld, where the new Innovation Park East is also to be realized. The study shows that the relocation of the Bruggen station site offers a unique opportunity to gradually create a locally embedded centrality with high accessibility quality for the Bruggen / Lerchenfeld district. The adaptive master plan based on this represents a coordinated picture of the future around the new double station. It establishes the context-specific embedding, ensures the most important urban and landscape spatial and infrastructural qualities and clarifies their mutual dependencies. In the sense of “learning planning”, the master plan is open to future changes and new findings in the further planning process.
