Railroad Street North Development Area
Study contract in selective procedure, Langenthal, 2021, in progress
The heterogeneous area consists of buildings and gardens of various construction periods, styles, sizes and ownerships: Industrial buildings meet villas, and sealed shunting areas meet valuable gardens. The project blends these different scales into a cohesive, pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly neighborhood, cultivating not only new path connections, ecologically valuable gardens, and front zones conducive to social interaction, but also architectural contrasts. The new neighborhood includes school and office buildings, row houses and multi-story apartments, and neighborhood-serving uses at key gathering places. Currently, the guideline project is being processed as the basis for the upcoming special use planning.
