The historic center of Hinterkappelen is characterized by the Dorfstrasse. Due to the irregular placement of the building structures, it spans a varied open space, which in places provides a view into the depths and the agriculturally used areas behind it. At this point, the new Sahlimatte settlement picks up, the village is further developed in depth. The need for a meeting place in the neighborhood is taken into account by means of a small square and a cottage garden as a prelude to the development. The square is spanned by three macrante puct buildings. Three additional slender structures span the settlement’s internal playground and create a transition to the adjacent settlement and open space.
Due to the different granulation adopted from the surroundings and the subordinate height development to the existing buildings, the Sahlimatte settlement fits naturally into the village structure.
